A Covering Letter
A good cover letter is like a good movie: it has a beginning, a middle and an end. It's a simple formula, but very easy to overlook. It should:
- State what position you are applying for
- Show how you meet the selection criteria of the advertised position
- Provide clear and accurate information to the point.
Your covering letter should look professional. Create it using a program such as Microsoft Word where it can look smart and there is a built in spell checker (pres the F7 key). The Interview
Employers don't ask “Are you a good worker?”. They will say: “Tell me how you have worked well within a team”. Your job interview will be full of open questions that don’t look for yes or no answers but aim to find out what you can do and what you have to offer. If you are well prepared before a job interview, you’ll have a much better chance of impressing the employer.
We have prepared a series of commonly asked questions that you should be ready for when going for a job interview. Download this document and ask a friend or family members to pretend to be the employer and ask you these questions.
